Stump and ripples by cloutierj Stump and ripples by cloutierj
Another river memory, one of the small wild gardens that forms on old wood sticking up through the water.  They always seem to me like a combination of horticulture and found sculpture.

Amate bark, lokta, Stardream metallic, unry.

This series is incredible, and so elegant! You really capture the movement of the water. I like the way the image is partially enclosed by the inner frame, but extends beyond and around it.

Thank you very much.  It is fun to play around with the curves and swirls.

Lovely textures! The water ripples have great depth despite the intentional flat style - well done.

Thank you!  I cut them from a metallic paper with a soft sheen, then glue them to a grey metallic paper and cut the shadow line along the lower edges.  Then I use a wooden tool to press them and round them a little, so they have their own highlights and shadows that change as the light on them changes.  It's fun figuring out the swirls.

Looks beautiful. I really dig the way you illustrate the flow of the water.

Thanks!  The ripples really come more from "what lines would be fun to play with here" than from any attempt at an accurate representation of water, but that's why I make paper pictures instead of photos!
